Storm of the century
Coasts Geog' Clip

While monitoring the seismic motion of sea cliffs during the winter 2014 storms, Dr Claire Earlie captured this fantastic footage of hydraulic action at work. Here we see 6-8 m storm waves tearing apart sea cliffs at Porthleven, Cornwall, UK. Even though coastal erosion takes place every day, research shows that it is storms like this that are most responsible for coastal recession. A great starter for geography lessons on coastal erosion processes!
